Message from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

The pathology department located at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, which tests blood and other samples from GP practices across Norfolk and Waveney, has been experiencing delays since 29th July 2025, due to a change in IT system. Systems are now fully up and running. However, disruption caused by the digital switch-over is leading to delayed reporting of some non-urgent results to GP practices.

If you are waiting for the results of a test you have had, you may have to wait longer than normal for this to be reported. Please bear this in mind if chasing routine samples but do contact the practice if you have an urgent or worsening problem. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these delays. The pathology and IT teams are working hard to rectify the issues and deal with the backlog of testing

August Saturday Appointment’s

SATURDAY APPOINTMENTS

Appointments and telephone calls are available to be ‘pre-booked’ with a doctor or nurse on selected Saturday mornings – usually, but not always, on alternate Saturdays.  Whilst the appointments are open to all, they have primarily been designed to help those patients who find it difficult to get to the surgery during our normal weekday opening hours.

Saturday appointments can be booked in advance, with the dates available from Reception and published on our website.

Appointments for August 2025 are available on:

SATURDAY 2nd August

SATURDAY 9th August

Please note that the telephone lines are closed on Saturdays and the reception desk is also closed on Saturdays unless you are attending the surgery for a booked appointment.

(We do not routinely offer blood test appointments on Saturdays as there is no hospital collection service from the surgery at weekends.  However, patients are able to drop off their blood sample themselves at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital if they have restrictive work commitments which mean they can only attend surgery for a blood test on a Saturday).
