Telephone advice

If you need to speak to a GP on the phone, then please phone the surgery on 01603 765550 selecting option 1, ideally before 2pm. A message will be taken and arrangements made for you to be called back.

As you will appreciate, it is not always possible to guarantee what time your call will be returned. Please ensure you leave a number we can easily contact you on throughout the day. It is helpful if you are able to give the receptionist a brief description of the matter you would like to discuss. This is most appropriate for those who may have reduced mobility or little spare time.

Flu vaccinations

To request a flu vaccination, please submit a vaccination request form. Alternatively, if you wish to decline a flu vaccination, please submit a vaccination decline form.

Information:

Once we have the available dates for this we will activate these forms.

If you have been asked to complete a form in connection with a long term condition such as asthma or high blood pressure, then please visit the online forms page, where you will find the appropriate forms towards the bottom of the page.

Saturday surgery

Appointments are available to be pre-booked with a doctor or nurse on selected Saturday mornings, usually, but not always, on alternate Saturdays. Whilst the appointments are open to all, they have primarily been designed to help those patients who find it difficult to get to the surgery during our normal weekday opening hours.

Please note that phone lines and the reception desk will remain closed on Saturdays to all patients other than those who have a booked appointment.

(We do not routinely offer blood test appointments on Saturdays as there is no hospital collection service from the surgery at weekends. However, patients are able to drop off their blood sample themselves at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital if they have restrictive work commitments which mean they can only attend surgery for a blood test on a Saturday).

Your appointment

If there is more than one issue that you would like to discuss with the doctor, then please ask for a 30 minute appointment.

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you are unable to keep an appointment then please let us know as soon as possible, this will enable us to offer it to someone else.

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

We do ask patients who need to see a doctor or nurse, to come into the surgery if they are able to. If a patient is housebound and needs to see a doctor please try to phone before 10am. This helps the doctor to prioritise the visits and to plan their day.

If you feel the visit is urgent then please mention this to the receptionist at the time of making the call. The receptionists have been asked to take a few brief details for each visit request to help the visiting doctor.
