Eligible patients born after 31/3/1954 - Stocks of the vaccines suitable for this age group are held and patients can book an appointment with one of our nurses, or if more convenient can attend the surgery at any time between 8.30am and 12 noon on Saturday 20 October.
Please note patients born prior to 31/3/1954 should not attend on this morning unless they have already booked for this day. This is because we are only receiving a limited supply of the appropriate vaccine and will only have sufficient stocks for those who have already booked an appointment.
Patients born before 31/3/1954 - We are holding a further open flu clinic on Saturday 10 November between 8.30am and 12 noon. Patients can just turn up during the morning - appointments not necessary. If you cannot make this morning then appointments will be available to be booked after this date.
Our annual flu campaign is now well underway with almost 1,000 patients having been vaccinated against the disease.
We have stocks of vaccine for eligible patients (including children) aged up to 64 and are expecting a further delivery of vaccines for patients aged 65 and over shortly.
Invitations are currently being sent to the parents of children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2016. Children of this age are entitled to have the vaccination at the surgery and are given it by 'nasal spray' rather than a traditional injection. This has the advantage of being both very quick and painless. Appointments for this age group are available on Saturday 20 October as well as during the week. Parents should contact reception to make an appointment. Other children (from reception through to year 5) are also eligibile and will normally receive this at school.
Further information, including details of eligibility is now available on the 'Flu Vaccination' page of this website.
The main change this year is that different types of vaccine will be given dependent upon the patients age. Because of the way the vaccines are being delivered this year it is likely that we will be able to offer the vaccination to some age groups earlier than others.
We have been advised that the delivery of vaccines for people aged 65 and over will be spread over the next two months.
If you are eligible to have the vaccine and would like to help support the future of General Practice then please have your vaccination at your surgery.
